JOB PURPOSE:

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer will use equipment that produces two-dimensional high frequency sound waves to create diagnostic images of the human body for use in diagnosis of disease or organ malfunctions. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer will also work with physicians by reading sonographs and making diagnostic judgments based on test results.

 

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Setting up and maintaining ultrasound equipment.
  • Performing ultrasound examinations on patients and presenting the sonograms and preliminary findings to the Physician or Specialist.
  • Producing images resulting from the ultrasound examinations.
  • Interpreting ultrasound images to aid patient diagnosis.
  • Carrying out training on ultrasound equipment for other healthcare professionals.
  • Addressing patients’ concerns before, during and after ultrasound examinations.
  • Keeping up to date records of scans performed and images produced.
  • Referring patients to other healthcare professionals and facilities, when necessary
  • Soothing and reassuring nervous or anxious patients
  • Selecting and examining images, looking for differences between healthy and pathological areas, and determining if the scope of the exam should be extended, based on preliminary findings.
  • Completing the appropriate documentation and maintaining patients' histories and medical records.
  • Prepare ultrasound equipment and exam room ensuring proper sterilization and safety procedures are followed.
  • Review the patient's medical chart prior to their appointment and have a clear understanding of the images required.
  • Use positioning tools and safety equipment properly to ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the imaging.
  • Attend continuing education courses and work to advance personal knowledge and experience within the field.
  • Use ethical judgment and critical thinking skills to perform diagnostic imaging safely.
  • Review images before sending to the physician to ensure a clear image of the area requested.

  • In-depth understanding of the principles of medicine and healthcare.
  • Knowledge of human physiology and anatomy
  • Working knowledge of ultrasound equipment and ability to explain technical terms in clear terms.

  • Excellent physical stamina and the ability to stand for long hours
  • Tact and discretion
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with computer software commonly used for documentation and sonographic report presentation.
  • Strong analytical, judgment and decision-making skill.
  • Good human/ interpersonal relation skills

EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • A 1st Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from any accredited recognized University.
  • Must be registered with the Allied Health Professional Council and be in good standing.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years professional experience working in an Accredited medical facility.
  • Knowledgeable in the policies and standards applicable in radiological/Radiographic services
  • Experience working with sensitive and personal patient records and information.

JOB PURPOSE:

The radiographer will prepare patients for diagnostic procedures by explaining the procedure, transferring and positioning patients, attaching or arranging immobilization and support devices, instructing and reassuring patients, using care, courtesy and tact. The radiographer in performance of routine radiographs, adjusts, manipulates and controls a variety of imaging equipment, and accessories used in performing diagnostic procedures

 

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Setting up and ensuring that all testing equipment are properly maintained
  • Operate radiographic equipment and develop film, confirm results with physician
  • Perform radiographic examination while implementing low-dose radiation techniques
  • Apply knowledge of human anatomy and understanding of patient’s condition to determine appropriate radiologic or testing technique and to assure accurate, high-quality images for diagnostic interpretation
  • Record findings and report results to physician or appropriate staff
  • Knowledge of and ability to adhere to all radiation safety procedures
  • Assume responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management
  • Ability to understand and apply general and complex procedures found in work instructions, quality manuals and other technical material
  • Demonstrates clinical imaging procedures to new staff members, as assigned, and participates in scheduled training, orientation and in-services.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, employees, and visitors to Medifem Multi-Specialist Hospital and Fertility Centre.

JOB PURPOSE

  • Ensure the delivery of a high standard of midwifery practice to all clients within the individual’s sphere of responsibility and competence in accordance with the Scope of Professional Midwifery Practice and hospital’s Standard Operating Procedures.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

  • To work in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period, assist with deliveries  on the midwife’s own responsibility and to provide care for the newborn and the mother.
  •  To perform health counselling and education not only for the woman, but also within the family and the community involving antenatal education and preparation for parenthood extending to women`s health sexual or reproduction health and child care.
  • Provide professional advice and support to the other members of staff to ensure the efficient and effective use of personnel and resources.
  • Take charge of the ward/section, in the absence of the in-charge Midwife for the management of the daily responsibilities, including work allocation, deployment to ensure smooth running of the area.
  • Assist members of the team in planning, priority setting and decision making.
  •  Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of quality initiatives.
  •   Contribute towards maintaining a safe, therapeutic and learning environment.
  • Promotes a clinical environment that facilitates change and introduces innovative efficient care structures and processes that are beneficial to the mothers and the organization.
  • Mentor junior staff and students/trainees and visiting staff.

EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Midwifery.
  • Must have at least 5+ years previous experience in Midwifery.
  • Excellent Verbal, Written Communication and people skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and clinical assessment skills.
  • Patient and compassionate.
  • Calm and cool-headed with a positive attitude
  • Good leadership skills; able to mentor and educate

  • Responsible for dispensing prescriptions by following standard operating procedures for receiving, filling, dispensing, logging, and maintaining loss prevention controls.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Organizes medications for pharmacist to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions; preparing labels; calculating quantities; assembling intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies.
  • Maintains records by recording and filing physicians’ orders and prescriptions.
  • Generates revenues by calculating, recording, and issuing charges.
  • Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments.
  • Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • HND in Pharmacy Technology
  • Must have a minimum of one years’ experience or more.
