ROLE: Diagnostic Medical Radiographer
REPORTS TO: Medical Director
REMUNERATION: Per approved remuneration structure. Further details of this as well as the other terms of employment will be discussed at the interview.
LOCATION: Westland-Haasto

JOB PURPOSE:

The radiographer will prepare patients for diagnostic procedures by explaining the procedure, transferring and positioning patients, attaching or arranging immobilization and support devices, instructing and reassuring patients, using care, courtesy and tact.

The radiographer in performance of routine radiographs, adjusts, manipulates and controls a variety of imaging equipment, and accessories used in performing diagnostic procedures

 

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Setting up and ensuring that all testing equipment are properly maintained
  • Operate radiographic equipment and develop film, confirm results with physician
  • Perform radiographic examination while implementing low-dose radiation techniques
  • Apply knowledge of human anatomy and understanding of patient’s condition to determine appropriate radiologic or testing technique and to assure accurate, high-quality images for diagnostic interpretation
  • Record findings and report results to physician or appropriate staff
  • Knowledge of and ability to adhere to all radiation safety procedures
  • Assume responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management
  • Ability to understand and apply general and complex procedures found in work instructions, quality manuals and other technical material
  • Demonstrates clinical imaging procedures to new staff members, as assigned, and participates in scheduled training, orientation and in-services.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, employees, and visitors to Medifem Multi-Specialist Hospital and Fertility Centre.
  • Explain procedures to patients and answer questions
  • Use ethical judgment and critical thinking skills to perform diagnostic imaging safely.

 

SKILLS

  • In-depth understanding of the principles of medicine and healthcare.
  • Knowledge of human physiology and anatomy
  • Working knowledge of radiology equipment and ability to explain technical terms in clear terms.
  • Excellent bedside manner
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent physical stamina and the ability to stand for long hours
  • Tactful and discrete
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with computer software commonly used for documentation and sonographic report presentation.
  • Strong analytical, judgment and decision-making skill.
  • Good human/ interpersonal relation skills

EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE

 

  • A 1st Degree from any accredited recognized University.
  • Must be registered with the Allied Health Professional Council and be in good standing.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years professional experience working in an Accredited medical facility.
  • Knowledgeable in the policies and standards applicable in radiological/Radiographic services
  • Experience working with sensitive and personal patient records and information.
